As you know, the church picnic is on April 21st from 4pm-7pm at Givens park and the Young Adult Ministry has been in charge of coordinating the entire event. The theme for this year’s picnic is “Together We Stand,” and it promises to be an afternoon filled with cross-generational fun!

We need two things from you:

RSVP to come to the Picnic (click here to RSVP online)

Volunteer to bring something and to help coordinate something on the day of the event

Several ministries, including the Young Adults, have been asked to bring certain items. Young Adults are being counted on to bring Soda, Water, Juice boxes, and Ice/ Coolers. We also need people to help setup, serve food, help with games for the kids, and hospitality (making sure everyone has drinks, napkins etc. Especially the seniors who aren’t as mobile).

Please submit the form below to let us know how you plan to contribute/help in these areas:

Pastor Parker will give special emphasis to HIV/AIDS in his sermon on Sunday.

Brochures with more information about this epidemic will be available at church.

Pastor Parker will be participating in The Black Faith-based Initiative’s Pastor’s Testing Day at Simpson United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 6 at 10 am.
The Women’s Ministry is pausing for prayer at noon on Friday, March 9th. No need to come to church, just pray wherever you are at the time.

On February 18th, we held a Young Adult Workshop facilitated by the Reverend Joseph Ford of Houston’s Brentwood Baptist Church. First, Reverend Ford guided the Young Adult Council members through an almost three hour planning session, where the Council worked on the future direction of the Young Adult ministry. Later, the Council members were joined by members of the Young Adult Ministry for a frank discussion of their thoughts on the direction of the ministry. Unfortunately, we ran out of time, but hopefully we will be able to build upon the work we started with Reverend Ford.

We’d like to thank Reverend Ford for coming to David Chapel and facilitating such a great workshop. We’d also like to give a special shout out to all of the young adults who took time from their busy schedules to attend the Workshop. For those who could not attend and those that did, the Young Adult Council welcomes you to offer input on ways to improve the ministry or new event ideas anytime! Send us an email at davidchapel.youngadults@gmail.com or tell one of the council members in person.
