Mary Janelle Whitehurst

 

Sister Mary Janelle Whitehurst, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, serves as the David Chapel Minster to Students and provides leadership to the Nursery, Children, Youth, and College Ministries. Before becoming the Minister to Students, Minister Whitehurst worked as a licensed social worker with organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Austin Diagnostic Clinic, and Communities in School of Central Texas.

Sister Whitehurst graduated from Texas Christian University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Social Work degree. She moved to Austin in January of 2007 for a new adventure and to further her social work career.

In August of 2009, Sister Whitehurst accepted her call to ministry and in January 2010 she entered Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. She is currently a full-time student at Truett pursuing a Master of Divinity degree.

In her free time Sister Whitehurst enjoys reading, going to movies, meeting friends for coffee, doing various craft projects, spending time with family, and Facebooking.

Sister Whitehurst is married to the wonderful Jamar Whitehurst who works as a Systems Engineer for Dell, Inc. They do not have children yet, but enjoy spending time with their lovable dog Kane.
